Tornado occurrence in Arkansas has been increasing significantly since 1995. Tornado strength, represented below by disturbed land area (DLA), is also increasing significantly. However, fatalities are decreasing, probably due to better forecasting, warning, and heightened public awareness.

Of the 367 AR fatalities, 28 were within 20mi of Benton, AR. Jan-May are the worst months for AR, followed by Nov-Dec. The peak hours for fatalities are between 2pm-9pm.
